CLICK ON THE PICS for full size ones
Saturday, May 7, 2005 Fishing Report
Today was warm enough so the primary goal was to take the kids swimming and then catch a few fish to end the day.
Headed out about 2:15pm and went straight to Picnic Island. Had a blast down there. Always look forward to the crabs on the beach:

Then we headed under and through Span B of the Sanibel Causeway. Began drift-fishing on the Gulf side. We hit Cock Roach Of The Sea Haven. Then after several catches, headed towards Span A and anchored on the Gulf side. Tide was extremely strong and the bait never had a chance to drop to any significant depth. After no luck there, we powered up and headed toward the river. Tide was too low to try the Kitchel Key adventure again. Went into the river and made 2 passes drift-fishing our favorite South Of The Cape spot, and after all of us landed several cock roaches, including this big fat one Amber caught, :

Carlos caught a nice 12.5" trout(?):

We were back by 7:45pm. Caught a breathtaking sunset once again:

Our favorite bait shop was out of shrimp by 1pm so we used a mix of frozen shrimp & calamari.
Water temperature was 78-81. Tide was a very strong outgoing all day.
