Today the outing was geared pretty much just for taking the kids out swimming.
About 2pm we headed to Picnic Island.
After a while I tried to catch some bait fish on the shallows on the southeast side of PI. I netted a couple what what I think is called white bait. They got away. There was lots of bait. Just couldn't net them for some reason.
We finally packed up and headed towards the Sanibel Causeway. Before the SC, we stopped and attempted to lure bait again. No bait to be seen.
Next stop, 1/4 mile off the Sanibel Lighthouse. Fished with frozen pinfish. No bites.
8:21pm
Sunset to the right of Sanibel Pier
Next stop was between the lighthouse and FMB as Carlos wanted to go shark fishing. We fished and fished and fished and all we got were about 3 catfish. At one point one of our lines had hooked what appeared to be a lady fish as it jumped a bit out of the water, but it came off the hook before it could be pulled in.
We headed back. Bugs were bad by the mangroves. We were on land by 10:30pm.
Water temperature (Fahrenheit): 88-89
Wind: strong from the South and Southwest
Precipitation: none
Distance Traveled (mi): 25
Hours out: 8.5
