CLICK ON THE PICS for full size ones
Saturday, July 1, 2006
Today we got started in the afternoon, about 2:30pm. Went to bayside between Sanibel Causeway Spans A & B and found that bait was present.

We headed to the Sanibel Lighthouse area and fished and eventually ended up with a catfish and this:

but received nothing. There were quite a few dead floating fish. They appeared to be juvenile catfish. All of them had a white inflated "bubble" on them:

Then the storms came:

7:00-7:30pm
It rained, and after sunset we had the spotlight out and noticed hundreds of small crabs about 1-2 inches wide passing by us.
After dark we anchored in the channel bayside of the Sanibel Lighthouse, near the pier over a depth of 22 feet. We stayed there for hours. Karla received some bites, but no hookups.
About 1am we tried to startup and the engine would not turn over. Oh no! After some failed attempts at getting us going including wrapping a rope around the engine flywheel, and swapping batteries, we were forced to hail Sea Tow for a jump. 3 hours later, Sea Tow arrived and we were on our way. We got home about 6am - dawn with not a fish to show for, except bait fish!
It has been one "adventure" after another lately. Now I will be replacing and rewiring the batteries...
