"  Lots Of Catches In 'Shark Bay'  "

Today we headed out at 11:30am with about a dozen live pins from the canal bait pen, and some cut frozen fish.

First stop:  We stopped and anchored where I caught that little trout a few weeks ago: after alot of waiting - nothing - so we drifted a bit on the inbound at 1.5mph.  Karla got a few teethy bites but that was it.  We heard the commotion on VHF 16 & 21 regarding the human smugglers stopped off of Knapps point, and we also saw a few law enforcement boats heading outbound toward Span A.

Second stop: Drifting on the outbound at 1.8mph from Span B out toward the gulf.  This proved to be a good decision because we hooked up over and over on little sharks.

AND CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS:
I actually got Karla to hold one of these sharks!  She was terrified every time I would bring one of these little guys onboard.  She was kicking and screaming but I fought and fought to convince her that Spanish Macks are more dangerous due to their exposed teeth, and she has held SMs no problem before so I knew with persistence I could convince her.  She finally succumbed to the pressure and exhausted from resisting she allowed the picture you see below to be taken!:

AMAZING!
Can't you just see the apprehension in her face?

It was a fun time.  Those little sharks have great strength.  They would whip me with their tail ever chance they got.  Amber slept through it all.  These 1-2 footers were all caught on small pinfish (under 1.5 inches) and cut fish.  I can only imagine what we could have caught if we had fished with larger bait!

About 5pm I dropped Karla & Amber off at Bowdich point on FMB to catch the trolley to her sister's apt.  On the way back I caught some bait just east of Little Shell Island in the river.  I arrived back home about 6:30pm.
