"  Pleasantly surprised by lots of activity.  "

On Friday I found out we were going to have a friend stay over on Saturday night and I thought well it would be great if we could go fishing on Sunday.  However after reviewing the weather report, it was expected to be cold and windy on Sunday which would not make for a good fishing trip; in the past we have done very poorly when it was cold, and the wind would simply make a day in the boat a bit obnoxious.   So it was decided on Saturday that we would not go fishing.  On Sunday we got up and after breakfast there was renewed interest in going fishing as the wind was less than earlier.  So the trip was on!!  I rushed to the bait store and picked up 2 dozen shrimp for $3.25/dozen, and prepared all of the necessities for a day on the water.

We left land at 12:38pm, and onboard was Karla, Amber, Ms. Rosa, her little puppy Chino, and myself.  There weren't many people out today.  Our first stop was in San Carlos Bay and boy was that a good choice.  As soon as the lines went in we started getting hit after hit.  Specifically Ms. Rosa caught the first few fish and simply continued throughout the afternoon.  The fish were hungry!

It is nice when you invite a guest onboard and you are able to find them fish so that hey actually do well and have a good time.  We haven't been so lucky in the past.

We have never been "on" such fish like we were today.  It was a Red Snapper and Gag Grouper bonanza.  I know one thing; I am a true believer that the water shortage crisis has contributed a lot of good to the local fishing because none of that problematic fresh water is being discharged from lake O.  I am looking forward to what will hopefully become an excellent fishing season.  Honestly with 68 degree water and high wind I though we wouldn't even catch a catfish today!

So in all we caught numerous Snapper to about 10 inches, as well as Gag Groupers to about 10 inches.  Also, a lizard fish which was later used as bait after running out of shrimp.  The lizard fish proved to be good bait today as the Snapper & Grouper ate that too.

Everyone is satisfied with our fishing results so we are ready to head back to shore to call it a day and do a BBQ when I attempt to get the anchor up.  It was very difficult to raise the anchor, and eventually I got it up and found a cast net hanging from the anchor's claws...nearly busted my back!

On the way back in we were seemingly pursued by a small helicopter as we passed little shell island heading up river:

He was flying around us multiple times.  I noticed he had a website on his tail boom: "BoatPix.com" .  Then I noticed him taking pictures or video of us.  Interesting little business he must have.

We were back on land by 4:48pm.  It was a FANTASTIC action-packed fishing trip!!!
