" Another slow day with some activity  "

Today we wouldn't be "working it" per say; it would be a relaxing outing, and if we happened to catch something then that would be great.  I picked up a dozen shrimp from Backwater Outfitters, got 10% off for mentioning their webcam, and we left land at around 2pm.

We stopped south of Picnic Island for bait but there was none to be had, even after chumming for about 10 min.  Next we headed to the York Island area.

Karla caught this little jack:

We later used the jack as bait because it did not live.  Karla wanted the tail, and I placed the rest of the jack in the sink with pumped in water running on it.  The water was draining into the bay and after a while, I spotted a very big shark lurking around the boat.  It was at least 7 feet long.  I believe it was the scent of the cut jack that attracted him.  I started fishing with my big-boy rod and that jack.

A while later Karla caught a catfish while using the jack tail.  We recovered the jack tail while releasing the catfish.

Later we moved to Picnic Island so Amber & Spike could go for a swim.

Then we moved to Sanibel Causeway Span B.  I was using the big-boy rod with the jack, and a regular rod with a shrimp.  The big boy rod ended up showing signs of having caught something so I began to pull it in.  I gave me a tug tug tug in quick sucession much like a catfish, but I know it wasn't a catfish because before I knew it my line was quickly BITTEN OFF, even past the leader.  It must have been a shark in the 2-3 foot range, or perhaps a king mackeral.

Karla never did hookup on anything else while using the jack tail.

Then we began drifting outbound from Span B. But fishing was very slow; I expected to hookup on a shark at the very least.  Nothing.

We did catch a fantastic sunset though.  Here are the best shots:
