" A Break The Routine Outing "

Today we decided to get off of land for a while and just do some leisurely boating/fishing to break the routine.  I jumped in the car and headed to get "supplies" (food & bait), and I was surprised to see that Backwater Outfitters at the foot of the Cape Coral Bridge has  gone out of business.  So I decided not to worry about having live bait, and went home.  We left land at about 2:05pm and headed out to the flats just south of the Sanibel Causeway Span A in search of live bait.

Well, the water was cloudy and after quite a bit of chumming I could not find any live bait.  Then we scooted over to the area of Bunchee Beach.  I wanted to try to get into the mouth of that little river just west of Bunchee Beach because I have had quite a bit of luck catching bait there before, from the beach.  But it was too shallow to get the boat in there so we ended up anchoring, and Karla fished for a while using frozen shrimp.  We saw lots of jumpers back in the flats.  I assume they must have been trout.  I also saw one zoom right by the bow of the boat.   But Karla was not able to catch any bites.

We eventually turned around and headed home, and Amber captained the ship up the river to shore.

We were back on land about 6pm.  Although I haven't had much "fishing spirit" in quite some time, I was happy to hear from Karla that she enjoyed the outing.
