" Great Active Fishing Day "
We had planned to go out today since last week's successful fishing outing. We were on water by 9:05am heading in search of bait.
(10:00am) We stopped just south of Picnic Island and after some throws we caught numerous small pinfish, shiners, and even a school of gar.

(10:40am) After this we pulled anchor and drifted east-bound toward the distant Sanibel Causeway Span A. I hooked up on a Spanish Mackerel, but just as I was bringing it to the interior of the boat the line was sliced with its razor sharp teeth, and it was set free.
We continued drifting and ended up very shallow near Fisherman's Island. We had to take evasive action to get the boat out including me jumping out and pulling the boat to deeper waters. Darn it!
Meanwhile, Amber decided to do another science project on a different specimen this time:

Then we headed to the center of Span B and anchored by a piling (1:10pm). But once again, there were absolutely no bites here. (1:50pm) So then we drifted swiftly toward the flats near Span A through the Gulf side. Eventually the fun started!
Here's a little shark I caught:

Here is a shark Karla caught, but once again she was terrified of it's tiny jaws and didn't want to hold it. So I held it for her for the sake of a picture!

Unfortunately it turned out to be a catfish.
Here I am with yet another shark:

We continued to catch sharks, trout, and even a lady fish. We caught so many fish that I couldn't get to the camera each time. We were not just fishing, we were catching!
We stayed in this area until 6:30pm when we decided to try Span B again. Unable to easily gain anchorage, we drifted once again from Span B toward and through the flats near Span A. We caught yet another shark:

Here's Amber fishing, which is rare as she is usually playing with the bait or Spike:

Mommy was less than thrilled while kiddo held that shark.
Even after sunset the activity wouldn't stop as Karla caught this trout:

We continued to go back and fourth through this area. There was quite a bit of activity in the darkness of night including endless numbers of gar jumping and splashing around. Once again we had the green light submersed. A couple times we saw a large fish zoom by including a blue runner and another unidentifiable.
At about 10:10pm we decided to head back. On the way back we passed several snook lights and saw snook under each of them. We were back on land at 11:25pm.
