Weekend Of May 22-23, 2010
" Lots Of Catches & Variety "

The weather forecast was looking good for this weekend so we decided to get an early start.  We left land around 9am with a box of frozen squid.

We anchored near the Belton Johnson reefs around 10:20am, and immediately I caught 3 blue runners.  Then the bite slowed for a while.

Then the bite heated up once again; Karla began pulling them in left and right:

 At about 1:30pm we left Belton Johnson and headed to Paces Place.  Karla continued her catching with this little flounder:

She caught another flounder, then she caught this sharksucker (remora):

We've been calling this the "SharkSucker"

She caught several blue runners too.

I of course was fishing with a live blue runner on my "big boy pole".  After a while I knew I had a good strike.  We battled for 5 minutes or so until he got tired out, and of course I had to bring him aboard, despite Karla's apprehension:

Later on I was fishing with some squid and my pole went zzzzzzzz, clunk.  Shucks, I was spooled!

We were back on land at 8:25pm.  Not a bad day at all.  How unusual the variety today!
