" Almost thought we were going to be skunked; Fishing heated up later in the day. "

We had prepared the poles and sewn up the castnet yesterday for today's outing.  We left land this morning at 10:10am.  Onboard would be just Karla and myself this time.

First we caught numerous pinfish bait on the west side of Picnic Island.  Then we headed to York Island just south of St. James City.  There we saw numerous jumpers, but we were not able to score a catch.  The water was pretty brown and ugly here.  Karla caught a catfish or two but we all know that catfish do not count!

After a while we wanted to get into some greener & clearer water so we headed for the Gulf through Span C and began drifting outbound near the Sanibel pier:

Karla caught a couple small sharks in this area.  Here's the smallest of the two, and in fact, the smallest shark we have ever caught:

Then we decided to head to a nearby reef.  This is when fishing started really heating up.  With frozen squid, Karla started catching white grunts left and right, and 2 mangrove snapper.   Here's the largest MS:

Karla also caught a couple of small flounder here:

I caught a white grunt also:

Karla by far was reigned "supreme fisherman" today.  I believe it was because she used squid as bait, and I on the other hand, mostly used live pinfish as bait.

As usual, we witnessed another fantastic sunset:

We stayed out an hour or so after sunset to see if we could arouse some night sealife, such as squid, with the submersible fluorescent green light, but we had no luck this time like last time we were offshore.

We were back on land about 11pm.
