Today is nothing more than a rainy and windy day. We noticed a powerline
down off McGregor, and some tree debris scattered here and there.

Well it looks like Fay turned further to the right than expected and went
through the Naples & Immokalee area.
Originally Fay was to come between Sanibel & Ft. Myers Beach, right at the
mouth of the Caloosahatchee River and subsequently over SE Cape Coral.
We were previously expecting a direct hit with a minimal Category 1 Hurricane.

Preparations today included bringing all objects from outside including
garbage cans, lawn chairs, etc. Also, the boat was prepared by bringing
down the bimini top, covering the boat, and tying the boat to the palm
trees. Shutters were NOT put on the house due to the possibility of only
a minimal cat 1 hurricane.

Today I went to the gas station 3 times purchasing a total of $313 of fuel at
$3.60 per gal. The boat has been topped off at 52 gallons, both cars
have been filled, and there are 46 gallons for the generator if needed.
Also, fuel can be taken from the boat, although premix, for the generator if needed.
Should we have to run the generator, the 46 gallons will give us about 4.6 days of continuous emergency power at a cost factor of about 4.7 times the cost of utility power. See my Electricity Consumption Calculator to calculate your needs and costs for emergency power.
