I want to let everyone know that I was able to get the free
(state-funded) Wind Mitigation Inspection in May. Then I turned
in the Uniform Mitigation Verification Inspection Form to my agent who
turned it in to the insurance company, and I am happy to report that I
received a $596 credit to my current HOI policy, bringing it from
$2500 down to about $1900 per year. That is still a lot of money
but every little bit counts. Unfortunately, I was not able to
apply for a grant by the May 31st deadline because the state had not
yet generated the resulting Wind Inspection Report (it takes about 45
days from the date of the inspection). Now I am looking into
getting a refund for prior years.
