Welcome to my Hurricane preparedness website. In the 26 years we have lived in this SW part of Florida, we have never felt the need to prepare for storms like we have since the very active seasons of 2004 - 2006.

Unlike typical websites that list all the items you need to obtain and do before a hurricane, we will focus on several specific areas: Window protection during the storm, and electric generation after the storm. These are areas I have extensive experience with.

I did some research recently and found that there are very few sites that explore both these subjects from the point-of-view of the typical homeowner. So, I decided to post my knowledge and experience here on this website to share with others.
